Royal Copenhagen, "Den Kongelige Porcelainsfabrik, was founded way back in 1775 under the patronage of the Royal House of Denmark, represented by Queen Juliana Maria. It is one of the oldest porcelain factories in the world, which is still in business. The tradition of Christmas plate began in 1908 with the dish "Mary and child", created by artist Christian Thomsen. Since then, year after year, the Royal Copenhagen has released a new Christmas plate which has now become a strong Christmas tradition in homes all over the world.
