Royal Copenhagen, "Den Kongelige Porcelainsfabrik, was founded way back in 1775 under the patronage of the Royal House of Denmark, represented by Queen Juliana Maria. It is one of the oldest porcelain factories in the world, which is still in business. The tradition of Christmas plate began in 1908 with the dish "Mary and child", created by artist Christian Thomsen. Since then, year after year, the Royal Copenhagen has developed a new Christmas plate which has now become a strong Christmas tradition in homes all over the world.

 

The Christmas plate 1944 is the 37th from the series of famous Royal Copenhagen and is entitled "Typical Danish Winter Scenes". Why play is important to the dish is hand-decorated in classic shades of cobalt blue light applied.
